Dipity Timeline Embeds: Now Less Cluttered
Hello Dipsters!
This week we decided to “just say no” to cluttered embeds.
Recently, we have been focusing on ways to make our embeddable, interactive timelines look a bit better on your website or blog. Visualizing data only really works when you can actually see it! We were getting user feedback and suggestions about ways to clean up and remove the clutter from the embeds. One that came up fairly consistently was a request to remove those big buttons that sat on embeds. Remember those?

Based on user feedback and suggestions, we decided the first step was to remove the “Follow” and “Add an Event” (which appears if your timeline is publicly available to edit) buttons from the embed. The removal of these buttons frees up a large portion of space in the upper right hand corner. As Dipity is embedded on a lot of blogs with limited width, we need to maximize the space in order to maximize the potential of the embed. Look how much better this looks:
So we made one change, but there should be more to come. Up next, we are looking into the possibility of creating a transparent zoom bar, allowing the embed to shine just a little bit more. We would love to hear your feedback on the improvements, as well as any ideas you might have about how we can make our embeds even better.
Thank you for reading,
Steve
